Vor eine Woche her bin ich zu eine Ausstellung gegangen. Fukushima in Berlin – japanische künstlere die verschiedene Medien brauchten um das Thema und die Situation in Fukushima zu beurteilen.
Ein besonderen Werk vergleichbar mit wenn es so etwas gab, eine Installation der eine Art deformen electrisches Gerät war. Das Raum worin diese Installation gestanden hat – riecht und riechte ganz besonders und in der selben Zeit irgendwie bekannt.
Als ich da ein paar Minuten herumgegangen war, fiehl es mir ein. Es riechte wie elektricität – nicht unvergleichbar damit muß auch Radioaktivität nach etwas besonderes oder bestimmtes riechen, aber wie? Und wäre es möglich das nachzumachen?
I was at an exhibition in the Bethanienhaus – Fukushima in Berlin. A great handful of japanese artists showed work in various different media all handling the theme and situation in Fukushima.
One work stayed with me – it was an installation. Other artworks were placed in the same space. The structure resembled a deform strange looking electrical construction. In the entire space a familar, yet indistinguisable smell dominated the room. After some time it occured to me, that this smell was the smell of electricity. I rememeber reading about the nuclear catastrophy in Chernobyl in 1986. People who lived in the affected area talked about a particular smell. The smell of Radioactivity. The subtle perceptional reference through smell.
